The Trefl Basketball Society in Sopot set up by Kazimierz Wierzbicki was, in 1997, transformed into a sports joint stock company. In 1998 the club, then given the name of Prokom Trefl Sopot, took the first bold steps towards reaching the winners’ podium. The first, bronze medal in the premier league was achieved as early as in the 2000/2001 season. In 2003/2004 we won our first Polish championship. Today, Prokom Trefl Sopot has a record of several national championship titles and ranks among the top sixteen teams of the old continent. Alongside professional basketball, the Sopot club stakes on training teenagers. Recently, a professional school of basketball has been started in Sopot. Its purpose is to fish for and train future Polish representation. In the summer of 2006 the Prokom Trefl Sopot junior team won the Polish Championship title. http://www.prokom.trefl.com.pl
Sport Billiard Section
The Trefl Sopot billiard section was set up in late 2001 to continue the tradition of the „Club 21” team. Its first big group success came at the Willingen Euro-Tour event. In 2002 the billiard team of Trefl Sopot won the Championship of the Billiard League One. Their victory was unthreatened for the last three rounds of the tournament. The second place in the European Club Team Cup was another spectacular success. The current season has had a brilliant onset with Wojciech Trajdos winning the Czech Open, the first event of the Euro Tour Billiards Cup Europe cycle. Wojciech is the first Pole in history to have gone that high. The Trefl team currently ranks the first and leads the league games.
